@modijack It was not that long ago that tuition at the late, great state universities was so low that one summer of full-time employment was sufficient to cover a full year's worth of tuition, fees, and books. What do you think is going on?

@modijack If you think that explains all of it, then, well, you've fallen for sheer ideology. Students used to be able to PAY for state universities by WORKING. You think government-backed loans is the sole reason they can't now? Or did right wing culture warriors win the battle to defund the state universities, at the state level, and funnel the money into the carceral state? Are you also someone who wonders whether "Gender Studies" is the problem (less than 1% of all degrees conferred nationwide), when Business Administration has been the most common major by far, for at least 30 years? Look up Financial Engineering. Did you know that was a degree? Those are the people who will change your life, not for the better.

People take out loans to pay for state schools. You know, the schools you used to be able to work your way through, easily?

That's funny. My grandparents lost everything they had in WWII. They don't think that stuff.
