  7. John Stewart: Carson said American cities were once the showcases of the world. What happened? Two people working for the minimum wage could get a decent apartment in any city and start out in life. What happened, John? Financialization happened. And, is it possible that cities have to be full of homeless to keep us free to be LGBTQ? I don't think most people think that's a ringing endorsement of freedom. People who feel safe from destitution are more tolerant.

It's the price of FREEDOM!" if you watch that Moscow subway segment Carlson produced, he seems to hope people have forgotten his past rhetoric. Taken at face, it does not lend itself to your view of Stewart's ridicule at all. It comes across exactly as Katie and Aaron heard it.
