But there are no such places. There have been a few buildings burned in a few places, and usually targetted because the owners called police for some small matter and it ended with police unjustifiably killing someone. This is not right, but it happens. I lived in France during waves of demonstrations, and they have been demonstrating since the fall of 2018. Over there, firefighters have stood between demonstrators and the police, to protect demonstrators. I have a more positive view of protest. It sure gets things done there. When I lived there, a kid got killed by police and the president of France paid his respects to the mother. One of the cops who did it cried so hard he had to be sedated and hospitalized for observation.

Second, a person CANNOT take part in causing a danger to themselves, then claim they acted in self-defense. So, investigators will have to determine what happened. They have to establish the time line, including what happened before the cameras were rolling. Real detectives and prosecutors will have to work on that, not amateur video watchers.

Then, people who witnessed what was unfolding before the video was shot and during the video and after need to be interrogated. They will ask, "what prompted you to film this? What did you see?" And stuff like that. Under oath. It is not even easy to identify people in these clips, much less see all of their actions. I'm sure experts in forensics will analyze it.

If a firearm is shot illegally, then those present have a right to attempt to disarm the person carrying it. That is self-defense. It's why you can legally disarm a school shooter, a shopping mall shooter, or a workplace shooter, for example.
