Not to mention, what do you think those who truly achieved great things -- a J. M. Coetzee, a James Baldwin, a Toni Morrison, for example -- are or were really like? Anyone who is well-read does not appreciate pablum.

I can figure out why propensity for both trust and distrust, optimism and pessimism, persist in human populations, with the latter being more common. Besides, to "trust others" must mean to trust cynics, too. That there is mathematics.

Nor did I expect the US to bomb where my family is from, but . . . I probably should have? Well, it was a surprise to me anyway. As for the people I know who were emotionally abused following a cancer diagnosis . . . No. I'm not going to tell you, except to say it includes the mothers of pediatric cases.
