People who oppose talking to people like Magnus were raised by advertising, not living parents. If you are that susceptible to any message, work on that.

@cherokeecharlie4016 He is not selling the person, or endorsing him. He is selling the principle of talking to people like him, and he is selling the principle that an interview of this nature IS distinct from an endorsement. Jimmy is promoting his vision of journalism. I appreciate why it appeals to people more than the major networks do.

@WitlessSod Exactly. Trust possible liars rather than proven liars . . . How about skepticism? Skepticism works for me . . . I support Jimmy in choosing to do this interview. I don't support the interviewee. I don't know him. I don't know whether he is misrepresenting himself or his beliefs. Or if they will be different next week, for that matter.

@WitlessSod Why do you think he does that? Do leftists, or astute people in general, expect to hear anything true from someone who joined the Boogaloo Boys (I don't even know how to spell it)? Do they look to people like "Magnus" for inspiration or guidance, or information about the most important issues confronting us? Compare Fauci. At most, Magnus can tell us about himself and about experiences he himself has had -- at most. Maybe not even that. Jimmy was kind to him. I see no problem. Fauci, on the other hand, sets himself up as the leading national expert on the epidemiology of COVID. (And AOC is supposed to be some great radical leader.) That's why Jimmy holds them to account.

If you don't trust Jimmy Dore on this point, watch Krystal Ball, or Katie Halper, or Kyle Kulinski. They all demonstrated that the DNC/elitists were misleading and disdainful. And how can you compare an unemployed basement dweller with one of the most popular members of the House? You don't see why you would be kinder to the first, and demanding of the second? What's the point of doing exactly the opposite? Who does that play to?

@WitlessSod I didn't say I didn't hold him responsible. If he is a fraud, then he's a fraud, and he is to blame for being a fraud. And if he turns out to be a fraud and Jimmy fails to admit that he is, then, AND ONLY THEN, will I denounce Jimmy. No problem. You're so quick to judge and categorize and reject the slightest nuance because that stance has served you. Goody for you. People like Magnus are not going anywhere. You can't shun them all, relegate them to perpetual basement dwelling, or line them up and shoot them. Some people take more risks than others. The former are generally more creative by nature. They make more mistakes, get into more trouble -- and discover more good things and new ways of approaching this poor life. That's how it is. You are SO cramped. @WitlessSod I do pity Magnus. I don't deny it. That's not infantilizing him. That's recognizing what's in front of me. If this society cannot withstand the "pressure" exerted by this guy, our problems are vastly deeper than you or I can fathom, and "not platforming" is not going to do anything about solving them. It's not even a start. All the more reason to give Jimmy's approach a try.

@WitlessSod Well, frankly, I can't claim compassion for someone I don't relate to at all. I feel pity, and I admit it. I nevertheless treat him as an individual, not a fungible member of any group, and wholeheartedly support what Dore did this time. If Magnus came on and lied, and we know with reasonable certainty that he lied, and Jimmy fails to acknowledge as much, that will be a different story.
