  4. @BryanMcRoberts1970  He wasn't passed over because of DEI. Easily half of every top private university entering class is legacy or "special development." Some special development is legit: an Olympic ice skater, an actress nominated for a Golden Globe. Most of it, however, is based on being family of major donors. Think $1m and up. The children of the hugely famous as well. There is always room for a kid from Pelosi's family, or Musk's. DEI is a distraction. It works, too.

  12. @vikramgupta117  He doesn't even have to do that. A person could talk their way into a class at a prestigious university, or just go to a no-name state school at night. The "no-name" state school over by me has professors who got their doctorates at Chicago (see? crisis in hiring), and one math prof who left for the Institute for Advanced Study. I kid you not. You have to get your resume in front of real people, not gatekeeper bots. The more places you go to meet people, the better.
