Briahna Joy Gray has more courage than 10 × AOC. Sublime!

So, AOC doesn't think there is a pandemic? Is that it? While she was running, BEFORE THE PANDEMIC, AOC said that M4A was essential and a human right.

@jasonaubin1455 True Democrat

@squidsquiddly5970 Nightmare. That could come true. :/

First two minutes of this video are devastating to AOC.
4
Talking about committee chairmanships sounds like their careers are more important than the people's need for health care in a pandemic, and an economy shedding jobs.
3
Translation: AOC is saying the preferred lobbies ("grass roots organizations") haven't asked for a vote. !!!!!!
3
Before the pandemic, AOC said M4A was a human right and urgent. During a pandemic, there are MORE important things than health care?
3
AOC said M4A was a human right BEFORE the pandemic. HER words.
2
He has. He had her on before she was famous.
2
@AB-ov1zm I agree!
2
Less expensive than the private insurance system. Free up that capital, free people to start their own businesses. This isn't even "socialist!"
2
The Canadian story is a canard. I personally know many Canadians with advanced cancer outliving every prognosis, with a good quality of life, and having access to the newest treatments.
2
THIS. Sadly.
2
AOC is making an argument FOR M4A. Let the Senate Republicans kill it. Let's see if they dare.
2
There is never "paygo" for Wall Street. Wall Street's well being is always an emergency.
2
With their own words? All they have to do is KEEP THEIR PROMISES.
1
Yes.
1
MOTEEF MEDIA It's one moment. It's not a reason to desert someone. It's a reason to watch what they do next. To stop being naive.
1
@artestra Fixed it.
1
@artestra Fix your spelling.
1
AOC has nice shoes.
1
Exactly.
1
Medicare has no mandates. Anyone can refuse a doctor's recommendation.
1
That can't happen. Speakers require a majority vote. The Dems are the majority, each Dem votes for a Dem or votes "Present." Do the math.
1
@TheHuxleyAgnostic You're right, they do have to vote for a person. Still requires a majority, i.e., an absolute majority. A Republican cannot win without Democrats crossing over to vote for the Republican, which will not happen. So strike "or" and what follows.
1
@TheHuxleyAgnostic Still be a plurality, not enough -- assuming more Democrats than Republicans vote. If more Republicans than Democrats were to vote, then your scenario could happen. If every member votes, 218 votes are necessary. To be honest, I don't know if remote voting, which I believe started in May, can be used to elect the Speaker. This is going to be more interesting than I thought.
1
@TheHuxleyAgnostic No one is trying to make her lose. People are trying to make her work for someone other than her donors during the worst emergency the country has faced since the Roosevelt administration.
1
@TheHuxleyAgnostic Right. You were correct and I was wrong; (b) is the proper course, and that any other path does risk a Republican Speaker, however unlikely that might be. It could happen. Democrats have to vote for a person, who must be a fellow Dem. Great. Let's do it.
1
@TheHuxleyAgnostic Taking a larger view, I guess that's not so bad. Either we end the age discrimination in Medicare, like every other civilized society, or US global prestige and hegemony take another hit. What's not to like? /s
1
@TheHuxleyAgnostic So demand something else from Pelosi that WILL further M4A, in exchange for voting for her. What committee will work on it? What timetable? Since Pelosi says this is her last term as Speaker, she should be GLAD to shepherd some progressive legislation. What does she need from her megadonors now? Everyone knows no universal Medicare creates headwinds for people trying to start a business. What are all the unemployed supposed to do? How do you expect them to wait? M4A isn't EVEN progressive. It is a basic necessity. Not having it makes Americans less competitive in the global economy.
1
@TheHuxleyAgnostic Also, to be clear, the risk of anyone but a Dem becoming Speaker is very small. Not zero, but very, very small. Ryan Grim explained this as well. For all practical purposes, it is non-existent. Too many weird things would have to happen.
1
Wow, never thought of that. You might have figured her out! That's pretty good. I mean that seriously.
1
Not what she said.
1
AOC is suggesting that.
