You need serious legal advice to get Medicaid to pay you directly, and I'm not sure that they would if you yourself do not have an appropriate license or hire licensed care. Medicare stops paying once there is no longer treatment, but only maintenance. You can, however, get companion care to be with your family member while they are in a nursing home. The very wealthiest people I know have at least two shifts of companions with their family member, and with 16 hours covered, the nursing home personnel are tipped off that they better be careful around that person -- not just when the companion can see them, but all the time. The best qualified staff appreciate the help. The unqualified steer clear of doing anything questionable around them.
