Truth is the first casualty of war. I have gotten relatively unbiased reporting from France 24 and TeleSUR. The main antagonists are unlikely to be truthful. It's always good to see what they have to say, for the simple fact that they said what they said, not that it's truthful. American MSM will lie about what was said. Kim Iversen, Chris Hedges, Abby Martin, Aaron Mate have been good, especially Hedges. Hedges has a moral core. Pepe Escobar in new videos is a little wacky now, but his serious lectures on the risk of war from several years ago are valuable. Likewise J-L Melenchon, but that's not translated.

@leecampbell2316 Thanks! I will check that out.

@vafixer8885 Look up The Nation reporting from about five years ago or so, well before the recent crisis, concerning Nazis in Ukraine. They did a series on it. THAT is what Jimmy Dore is primarily relying on.

@vafixer8885 Evidence? Reporting from many years ago, such as The Nation, which did a series on neo-Nazis in Ukraine. Nothing I read from after the invasion can be trusted to be free of exaggeration or minimization.

@vafixer8885 No, he is not basing his entire report on one translated word that you insist does not carry a sinister meaning in English, and hence cannot in Ukrainian.

@belgiumhr3524 You already found several series on the issue in The Nation, by Lev Golinkin most recently (i.e., early 2019), and read them?

@vafixer8885 Fun fact: when you hear Russians bragging about being a "Eurasian" people, they may simply be stating a historical and cultural fact, or . . . They could be ultra-right, neo-Nazi-tinged nationalists like Alexander Dugin or the late Eduard Limonov (whose book, It's Me, Eddie, featured in a recent Adam Curtis documentary, is very much worth a read, though it needs a warning). I bet you would have never guessed, huh?

@leecampbell2316 Watching now, WOW!!!

The US media is awful. Who hasn't noticed? Just compare France 24 and TeleSUR English versions, live reports, on Ukraine. I'm not suggesting they are unbiased, but the sheer relief of getting away from the puerile MSM will amaze you.

@the_monkeypox_commander6603 No, he's not right. The context will be different in each culture and language.

When you look at a map of countries that abstained in the UN vote condemning Russia, it covers essentially all of Asia. What does your family think that's about? Why do they think that is?

@karirobbins2984 It took me a long time just to find a map of the countries that abstained from voting with the West to denounce Russia. (And the map I found was colored in a way that makes it less easy to see which countries had what position.) I was just reading in the New York Times that young artists from Russia are having their engagements rescinded if they refuse to denounce Putin's invasion of Ukraine. They did this not only to people known to have been close to Putin but also to the pianist Malofeev, who is a prodigy and only 20 years old. Most of the letters to the editor think that's fine. These are dark times. I follow Chris Hedges, Abby Martin, Aaron Mate, George Galloway, Kim Iversen, Glenn Greenwald. Hedges has moral clarity on the matter and spends more time condemning Putin than many of the other critics of US policy do, which I appreciate a lot. Abby does as well. All of these people are good. Librairie Tropiques in Paris (14th) just translated Jimmy and Max!
