Okay. HOW could parents fall for this? When they were growing up, how many trans kids did they know -- diagnosed or not? Did any kid confide in them that they hated being a boy and wanted to be a girl, or vice versa? Did they ever hear about anything like it at all??

@Angelalynx999 I'm not talking about children telling parents. I'm talking about peers confiding in one another.

Chicago. Why am I not surprised?

All of this is based on a desire to be Special and Famous. That's why you almost never see POC or non-Western kids and parents involved.

@Angelalynx999 It was always considered a grave responsibility to protect the future reproductive choices of every child, difficult adolescence or not. Anyone who fails to see the moral imperative of that is, well, failing. Will that always be possible? Always? Will it turn out to be paramount for absolutely every child? Probably not, but if we act as if it were, we'll do vastly less harm. You know what was right for you. To insist that something so drastic is SUDDENLY right for tens of thousands is suspect. When it comes to kids, my own feeling is to hold back, not impose, see what's going on. Activism is suspect on its face. Permanent impairment is suspect on its face --- and to what end, exactly? What's so good about it? More cults swirling around kids in the West than anywhere on earth . . . .

@Angelalynx999 Wait? Tell your best friend what? Not, "I'm trans!" That language didn't exist. How about, "I wish I had been born a boy [girl]! No, I really mean it." No one ever said it because of "stigma." Since when, the '60s?? In every part of the country? New York, Minneapolis, Seattle, San Fran?

@Angelalynx999 Wait a second. Kids were afraid to tell their closest friends what, exactly? No one said "I'm trans," because that language didn't exist. How about, "I wish I had been born a boy (or a girl)! I really mean it. I've always felt that way." No one said it, because of stigma? Seriously? Like, even since the '60s? And on the West Coast or New York? Be serious. EDIT: Oh. So I wasn't scents err . . . After all! 😊
