  3. Take them to libraries, bookstores, and art and craft supply stores every week, and have one special day each month or so where they get to have any book or art supply they want. (It's pricey, but it will save money in the long run.) Check out some teacher supply stores yourself, and see which books are at the library as well. Later, consider foreign language self-teaching resources. Lots of kids find those fun.
