"Deregulation" of money and of instruments that function like money is a licence to counterfeit. You're still thinking of an economy where people perform real services and, above all, make real things. That's not what's happening.

The US Department of Defense is the largest employer in the world, and were it not, the US Dollar might very well not remain the global reserve currency. If you live to see the dollar lose that status, you will also see how dependent you are on "government." More and more people have totally fanciful ideas of how the world works, and that fact alone means an ominous future.

They have the "freedom" to do it. "Deregulation!!" In fact, anyone who can print a better dollar should be given clear sailing. They almost are already.

Went it went public, not that long ago, it stated in its IPO materials that it has never turned a profit, and that under its present business model, it cannot reasonably project a future time when it will turn a profit. But it has already spawned millionaires and billionaires. With no profit, and no prospect of profit anytime soon. Not to mention some very unhappy workers. Gee. Can you explain it?
