@richardkohn4153 The gun advice is not bad either. Wonder how much lessons cost?

It's starting to sound like it, isn't it?

@robertmatthews2009 In the Constitution, and in his political writings on the theory of the Constitution.

@robertmatthews2009 You mean you are incapable of reading the Constitution? Up to the Bill of Rights? How is this even possible?
1
@robertmatthews2009 You are not embarrassed to ask that?

@robertmatthews2009 I don't follow. Can you give an example of where the government does that? As distinct from, for example, taxing earned income to pay for Medicare and Medicaid, or for Social Security pensions and disability payments, or taxing property to pay for education? These are the universal programs the first post mentioned. Great observation. Maybe you could also enlighten us on why any person or group should have their freedom of movement curtailed and their ability to earn a living curtailed by government edict without just compensation for the loss?

@robertmatthews2009 The government can do all sorts of things in a national emergency. It can even draft people into the military, which deprives them of all sorts of rights. It can regulate commerce. Of course it can take property, provided it compensates people for it. It can borrow money to spend on the general welfare, and then collect taxes to pay the interest on those bonds. The first post got it right, basically.

@robertmatthews2009 All of those are subject to reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions. Look it up. This standard has some flexibility in it. Example: In normal times, you cannot hold a prayer meeting in a location that impedes traffic without a permit. You also cannot walk into a public school classroom and start giving a speech, on any topic, no matter how important. A national emergency may change what "reasonable" means. I have an observation for you: whoever is feeding you these talking points is SO not your friend. You need to see that. It could become important really, really soon. The end.

@robertmatthews2009 No one is preventing you from doing that. Anyone who tells you they are is lying to you. No one will be stopped or fined or mistreated in any way for visiting anyone in a private home on Christmas or any other day. Large parties in commercial venues are another matter. Just don't invite the public or charge admission.

@robertburnett5561 That's the only thing they will work to prevent.

@Nick Arjomand Per capita income and per capital wealth are what matter.
