@gaposina We are being told Russians hate Putin, BUT must take an anti-Putin oath to work here, and Americans think this is reasonable. The US has never been clearly worse than it is right now.

@krennels The US military is the ultimate backstop to dollar hegemony. That's the point. It is evident our currency is diluted and no longer as stable as it was before deregulation and the explosion of exotic derivatives and swaps, shadow banking, etc. If the world didn't know before 2008, it sure does now. You might try to keep up. Or did you think Facebook and Google hold more real value for people than raw materials, food, and basic manufactured goods?

I've only heard non-Americans say that the US military supports dollar hegemony. Regardless of what the commentators say, or "whose side" they are on, they all agree it's about military might. This is the FIRST time I've heard it said straight-up by an American.

@emekakhamun7005 They can't do math, and there's a reason. They don't know what a billion is, much less a trillion. A billion dollars is equal to the lifetime earnings of 400 highly qualified professionals. Two billion is like winning a million dollar lotto per year, every year since the birth of Jesus. There are people with 10 to 100 times that net worth. No one can "earn" that. Nevermind that the marginal value of $100,000 to such people is literally negligible. They could never state their net worth to the nearest hundred thousand. One of them had a secretary who embezzled $2 million from him and he never noticed. Gutting mathematical reasoning was Reagan's greatest "achievement," by his lights.

@sarahbrown5073 Either that was a brilliant but cryptic observation, or it's daft. In any case it has nothing obvious to do with anything I said, or anyone said. A person can't eat gold, no. Nor can they eat Facebook, Google, or Twitter. Nor can we wear them. They don't heat our house.
