Does Jerry point to a single empirical fact about the guy Jimmy interviewed, as an individual, that should make us think he is lying about his views? Does Jerry point to something he said or did, or even a "microexpression," that indicates we should mistrust him? Jerry just spouts dogma. He doesn't express caution, which is reasonable. He only condemns. Blanket, categoric condemnation, no discussion permitted. Jimmy is right. Jerry is image tending. Is he afraid of someone? Who would join a political group where people have to act like they're afraid?

No, the Nazis weren't socialists. They adopted the name because of its immense prestige in the early 20th century. Any worker in 1920s Germany would tune out a politician who claimed to oppose socialism. No socialist is a nationalist. Ever. Socialism is a universalist movement. Anyone can call themselves anything. The Clintons claim to be "democrats."

If Jerry thinks the other guy is lying, he needs to say so. If he doesn't think the other guy is lying to us and false flagging, then he SHOULD try to reclaim him for the left.

@rgzhaffie "Are you saying" reminds me so much of Rush Limbaugh that I really cannot answer the loaded question that follows. What I am saying is that today, a lot of people are tragically naive. Who has not been duped? I am sure I have. Do we write them all off as unrecoverable? What is your proposal? What I am also saying is that a cheap cover story can buy a multinational corporation a lot of undeserved good will, with which they can then do all sorts of bad stuff.

@rgzhaffie Okay, that's fair. That's your assessment. I personally don't want to engage with anyone who brought a gun to any government body, and would be a hypocrite if I were to pretend otherwise. But could it be that those are exactly the people we need to approach and try to change? Could it also be that they have absolutely no clue who is behind their protests, Koch or whomever? (BTW, did you know there was this much ignorance in the country -- and they have guns, too? I have been observing closely for a long time and did not know it was this bad.)

@rgzhaffie Oh yeah? I thought most of them were losers. Meth in their past, etc. So, if someone has a small business and they show up at a state capitol building with big, assault-style weapons, and the pictures are broadcast everywhere, who is going to patronize that small business? Plumber, electrician, remodeling contractor, roofer . . . You'd let that guy into your house after seeing him? Or you'd rent from him -- rent anything, least of all your dwelling? Let's think this through. Not to mention that there is no reason to demonize small business. Not everyone can stand working for Jeff Bezos. To order the shutdowns without emergency UBI in place was one of the most spectacularly immoral things this government ever did. A year ago I would have doubted it could happen. FYI, in other countries, notably France, it is the hard left that is demanding an open discussion concerning shutdowns, vaccine reluctance, etc., and an exploration of alternative measures -- notably J-L Melenchon, whose FI movement includes Marxists and PCF members.

@rgzhaffie Americans in general are right wingers. Are the small business owners exceptionally bad? I'm sure a few are, but . . . Worthy of a blanket observation/condemnation? Doubt it.

@rgzhaffie I wasn't making a moral judgment. I assume most people here are worse than elsewhere. Glad you stepped back from the notion that actual business owners allowed themselves to be photographed with big weapons at state capital protests. Most Americans are right wing, as most draw benefit from the labor of a proletariat that does not live here. But they protest loudly that no such thing ever happens and that they've "earned" every penny they've got. The "left," such as it is, often pushes them further right.
