This is what the leading virologists disagree about. Sorry, love. This is still early in the pandemic.

I had a mild case of probable COVID but there were no tests available to be certain, and despite it being mild, I was not myself for a solid six weeks. Long COVID is real, and yet most people recover. I hate that they downplay the success stories. It is unduly scaring people who had it. Of course most will be fine. Totally fine. This is a serious illness, yes, but why the exaggeration? Serves no one. . . . Well. :/

  10.  @phazemekaniks  Do you seriously imagine other people don't know what peer-reviewed means, or how to read such articles? In the case of myocarditis, demographic characteristics matter. The NYTimes just reported this past week that a number of countries no longer recommend two doses of an mRNA vaccine for men under 25. You are not up to date. (P. S. Expert witness testimony under Daubert was a specialty of mine. Quit thinking you're smarter than everybody else. Even Einstein knew better.)

Feel free to exercise your freedom of speech. The jeering and browbeating is making people more suspicious of the vaccines, not less. Obvious why. Those who tell the truth about side effects and accept differences of opinion are far more credible.

DEMOGRAPHICS MATTER. Especially for kids. You do know the FDA withheld full approval for Pfizer for those under 16, correct? EUA only, with pages of fact sheets and waivers, plus a statement that declining vaccination will have no bearing on a person's future health care.

The growing consensus I am relying on is new, and I am sure you know subsequent studies on any medical issue may come up with yet another conclusion. In this pandemic, we heard that Type A blood was a probable risk factor for severe COVID, as was being male. The former has turned out to be highly unlikely, while the latter shows a modest trend in sufferers under age 50, but is much less of a factor over age 65. So far as we know. :)

It's there. Then verify it, by going to the official websites of ministries of health in other countries. Your homespun story about scientists in your family persuades you. It carries no weight with anybody else, nor should it.

  28.  @phazemekaniks  I make all of my medical decisions on evidence-based, scientifically well-founded medicine, plus things like the Precautionary Principle. (Example: if I read a certain mineral is good for preventing an illness, I do not buy a supplement, or if on rare occasion I do, I do not use it daily, megadose, or anything of that nature. I look up journal articles on which FOODS contain that mineral, and eat those.) You still have provided no source, other than family.

Look up Racaniello's interview with Lex Fridman if you want a brief look at wider issues. He's a real virologist, Columbia University, and he is for vaccination. I think the CFR, of close to 2%, is a better snapshot. But again, demographics matter.
