@scroopynooperz9051 We do know why flu is low this year. It is less contagious than coronavirus, and the precautions we took on account of coronavirus helped prevent flu transmission even more. School closings especially. This was not a mystery. Remember the first cases of AIDS? The pandemic was preceded by hepatitis B and C pandemics, both of which are transmitted in the same ways, and probably more easily. If people had taken precautions against hepatitis, they would have saves millions from dying of AIDS.

@htunlin2000 It was a proposal "in countries where record-keeping is difficult." Microchips in vaccines was one idea Gates floated. As far as I know, it never happened anywhere. It just shows something about his mentality.

@jglammi I'm somewhat familiar with Ioannidis, and so far, some of his predictions have been totally incorrect. But the effort to silence these scientists, and to parade around pompous, ignorant billionaires instead, as though THEY were proper spokesmen to advise us on what to do when facing a new virus, is chilling. What comes next? What won't they do?

@privatename3447 They can pick the charity arm of various corporations in their portfolios as the recipients of their foundation's grants. This creates a cascade effect: other billionaires contribute to the same charities AND buy stock in the same corporations. This has been traced by several investigators, in more than one country. If structured properly, perfectly legal. It's not tough. None of these people are as smart as they are made out to be.

@KevinUchihaOG Nice evasion of the central point -- the Precautionary Principle, which puts the burden of proof of safety EXACTLY where it belongs, on the proponent of a GMO. It does not say safety cannot be demonstrated, so forget about erecting that strawman. In the meantime, awaiting evidence, it is eminently rational to avoid GMOs. As for your theory about "chemicals," it has been called into serious question by none other than modern nutritional research. Vitamin C in nature is better for you than synthesized, though the reason why is unclear. Perhaps it could be synthesized better. (That notion has not been excluded.) Beta carotene in pill form is dangerous to smokers and possibly others, yet in the very same amount from carrots, it appears to prevent cancer in people who don't already have precancerous changes in their cells (and possibly in some who do). Why? I don't think we know. We cannot ethically conduct every possible experiment on humans that could give us a definitive answer real quick. Just give it up. Please.

@KevinUchihaOG Also, are you suggesting GMOs are the only way, or the best way, to increase crop yields? Evidence? A hypothetical doesn't help us make a decision. "A implies B" does not mean "Only A implies B." (You didn't count on meeting up with scientifically-minded, logical people, huh? That's why you make overwrought emotional appeals, now raising the spectre of mass famine or genocide. As if the billionaires will save us!)

A book about the Gates Foundation self-dealing and highly dubious projects came out in French before I heard anyone mention it in the Anglosphere. I don't know whether we ever get news anymore if we don't have access to other languages. Jimmy has great instincts. Max is brilliant. One of your best, Jimmy!

@Fortaz107 If you could listen to the left in any other country, they question Gates's initiatives, they are unimpressed by billionaires and "startups," they are generally opposed to GMOs, they want discussion of alternatives before further COVID restrictions and lockdowns, they support freedom of speech, especially at university, and they support local farming. I know, I'm ready to faint.

@KevinUchihaOG It is based on the Precautionary Principle, which is a way of allocating burdens of proof based on the Hippocratic oath, "first do no harm." Before the WHO was Gates-dominated (as for currently, I don't know), it said that each GMO in food must be evaluated for safety case-by-case; if you understand the technology, you know why, and it does not take much work to find out. You cannot generalize and claim they are all fine. The PP puts the burden where it belongs -- you do not presume safety and try to disprove it. You presume absence of safety and try to disprove that, just as in medicines. But apart from safety, there may be risks of creating monocultures in certain foodstuffs, and thus a need for more technology to "fix" that as a result. There is also the fact that its major innovation, golden rice, has turned up in some studies to be of no appreciable benefit at all. Turns out kids need carrots or sweet potatoes or red cabbage or spinach.

@KevinUchihaOG Strawman. I eat mostly organic, and almost pure vegetarian, with wild caught fish every few months on doctor's orders. I avoid fish, though, on principle. A lot of people know that food with a chemistry set list of ingredients is not a good idea, yo. This thinking has been around since the 1960s.

Real conspiracies do exist. Allege a whole bunch, some will be close to the truth. Some will be worse than suspected (e.g., Epstein).

Alex Jones was the one making emotional appeals, to the basest emotions there are, the drive to heap scorn on the bereaved. The parents can never be paid back. I hope some of them can move to Toronto, London, etc. I know I would. I'd forego winning more court cases, if necessary, to get the h*ll out.

@garfieldmcsniffit1030 I don't hate on him. I simply don't trust his judgment. At all. To what extent does someone have to go for you not to trust their judgment? Different rules for celebrities? And for billionaires? Isn't that what Gates thinks he's entitled to? I mistrust Gates more, he's deliberately devious. (Happy now?)
