  6. The Soviet Union ended. See John Lanchester on that. He is an Englishman grew up in Hong Kong and saw it all. This story is from someone whose parents very likely were not in the war. Mine were, and we didn't end up in a "white suburb." Nor were city kids spoiled. Take a wider perspective.
