  1. OMG, when my parents got older, every one of their elderly divorced or widowed friends were robbed by their kids. One had to go to court to get the money back. She was the only one who did. The others just died soon after.

  2. Huh. I remember when Thatcher was telling us there is no such thing as society. Now we have to bear children for its sake, nothing less. 😂 Maybe some of us don't want our children exposed to today's politicians and the world they've created.

  18. ​@ronmoore6598 Today I see young parents whose children have autism. When I was a kid, all of my friends from large families had several brothers or sisters born after the mother was 38. In two cases, after 45. All were normal. We need some careful historical studies and transnational studies. There is something wrong with this picture.

  21. People without children do not have the same fear for the future of the civilization. Today's 20 year old faces a bleak world unless he has a trust fund -- and that is barely a buffer. That angers me. I grew up when a summer job covered in-state college tuition.

  23. @justinukere9848  That's not why. People are not getting married for financial reasons. People are not having children either because they cannot meet the right person, or have a health issue. Both of these affect women more than men, for obvious reasons. But they will get you to blame ideology. Perfect. Good job. They win again.

  24. @justinukere9848  I have never met ANYONE who discouraged women from having kids. I met a lot of women who used in-vitro fertilization or other assisted reproduction. In other words, they were prepared to do anything, just to have a child. Some had children alone, and were well over 40. That's real life, not screenlife.

  26. @justinukere9848  People aren't getting married for financial reasons. Women most often forego motherhood because of health issues, or because they never met the right person. Not because they didn't want children. Most people want children. How could anyone make us think otherwise??

  36. @TheDionysianFields  I couldn't disagree more. "I'm doing this for MY KIDS," while they stab everyone else in the back without blinking. I actually don't even find that so blameworthy -- we evolved not to be able to resist the pull, for good reason.

If they weren't selfish (or if they were a little less stupidly selfish), they would care about all kids, not just their own kids, whom they are using as an excuse to do what they want. But since there is no such thing as society, maybe their kids don't need to have healthy age-mates. Maybe they can learn to use and discard . . .
