Shocked me to see how true this was when I went there. I expected Eastern Europe. Montenegro has a strong Latin vibe.

💞💗 . . . but you do know that there is a Montenegrin community in Argentina, Gran Chaco? ;)

@MobPenguinstudios Montenegro in general has an obvious Latin-Europe influence, certainly on the coast.

@ILLYRIANPost Montenegrins are the least Slavic of the Slavic peoples of former Yugoslavia. The Albanian, Greek, and especially Latin influences are patent. It's unmistakable. The warmth toward Catholics on the part of the Orthodox Christians is striking as well. Some people have some Jewish background as well, although that is not as common as in other areas in the region, and as far as I can tell, it's all Sephardic. Nope, not a typical Slavic people at all. It's the Mediterranean, not the Black Sea or the Baltic.

@MobPenguinstudios Directed to me? Three generations of my ancestors lived part of their lives in Argentina. A recent governor, who then joined Fernández de Kirchner's government, was from there: Jorge Capitanich. My great-grandfather is buried there.

@swatkabombonica4103 Those Romans were really something. No one marked the world more.

Can most Serbs read Italian?

Visit in October, still a summery month but off season. Luxury hotels are $55 a night. Latin ambience is remarkably strong, even in Podgorica. On the coast, of course.

@MeirHarZion34 Are you joking? Ulcinj is famous for disrupting the Ottoman Empire slave trade! The people all intermarried, too. It's a point of great pride. The people from Africa -- modern-day Chad, mostly -- set up fishing villages and then some moved inland to Podgorica. This was in the 17th century. Look it up. People in Montenegro really hate racialism. It's a bunch of Nazi crap. 🤮
