  1. "Emotions" are the last thing that could possibly be a factor in cancer. Caitlin Flanagan wrote a lot about that. It is time to put it to rest already.

  2. I have always known that pressuring sick people, especially those with cancer, to be "positive" is a grave mistake. Let them be however they need to be. Give them space. You aren't an expert on how they should face cancer. In fact, you know nothing about it. Show that you trust THEM to know how they should face cancer, and that you would be happy to learn.

  3. It's almost never something you did. Roughly half the human race will develop detectable cancer cells, if you include noninvasive cancers (in situ, sometimes called Stage 0). It's not possible that half of humanity did something wrong. And when you include cancer among other mammals, what in the world could they be doing wrong? Apart from smoking, which is usually a choice (unless it's second hand), various forms of pollution as probable triggers come next.
