Having said that, British press and Israeli press have been far more forthcoming about vaccine issues and serious problems with the vaccines, and they have the highest vaccination rates in the world. (Why am I not shocked? Honesty is something people appreciate, and respond to.)

  4.  @iksnaz553  Very interesting. I had not seen these reports. This is excruciating for Gabby's family, being their first holiday without her, but I hope more answers are forthcoming. It seems as though there were a lot of chances to save her life. Not an ordinary case at all. Did you see her mother on 60 Minutes Australia? I was shocked by how astute, intelligent, and level-headed she was, and she admitted she did not have bad feelings about Brian. She is not changing her story now, either. She comes across great. Sometimes you will see a mom who pushes a daughter to date and so forth, unwisely but with good intentions. Not this mom. I got the feeling nothing escaped her, and that Gabby was very much loved and appreciated, and not pushed to get engaged at a young age. I've never seen anything like it, frankly. I wouldn't have thought this could happen.

  15. Exactly. Consider, also, the real elephant in the room: there is a chance you could skew their health insurance pool. If you have a "meltdown," you have a diagnosis and are entitled to (expensive) care. That's what they don't want on their ledger. No job is your friend.

The facts are presented to you in the release form and fact sheet you must receive before you can consent to being vaccinated. It is not a trivial matter to accept any non-FDA approved drug, of any kind. Your access to any compensation in the event of harm is slim to none for most people.

  21. That's funny. A living person testified he believed, rightly or wrongly, that Rittenhouse was an active shooter. Another living person testified he was an innocent bystander in the line of fire when Rittenhouse first opened fire, before anyone had touched him. In fact, that person, McGinnis, was a journalist from a conservative publication that had a generally positive view of people like Rittenhouse. Huber's filthy house was not in evidence. You are easily led.

  22. @amandabeaty1492  It's not what she said. The totality of the circumstances is what she highlighted, and that was correct. If he were an oncologist who she met on vacation in Newport Beach, and were a widower with two sons, would anyone mention medication? No. Let it go.

Goes both ways; so called "crimes of passion" are usually committed by men against women. I don't want them treated as low-level homicides. I did think she was shamefully provoked by him. I think the trial was sensationalized. I also think she is very dangerous. All three can be true.

Greene is not exactly my kind of guy, but he writes very well and I honestly think he can arm people against falling for Mr. Wrong. When you see the manoeuvres, the bubble will burst. Or, on how to avoid criminals, all the way from petty brutes to serial killers: Gavin DeBecker, The Gift of Fear. I think what bothers me most is when genuinely naive victims blame themselves. Maybe no one told them. Maybe no one sat them down and calmly explained. When others go on the attack instead of explaining, the starry-eyed innocent young woman will . . . defend the guy. She will silence the little voice telling her, "there's some truth to this criticism of him" -- out of misplaced loyalty. (File under, bad things do happen to good people.)

  28.  @Lalabooey  Exactly. This should never be part of childhood. Children are supposed to be enchanted with animals. Guns are too serious a matter for minors to have. I would never give a child a toy gun. I would also make any 18 year old take extensive lessons in gun safety and marksmanship.

We should all pause before we start being self critical when confronted by a difficult person. The first thing to remember is that difficult people often have "friends" (a crew is a better word for it), and these friends may join in, in taking that person's side and criticizing you. Remember that their criticism proves nothing.

People who lash out at a young woman who was shot in the chest, and whom the police praised for her presence of mind and exceptional courage, may need to speak with someone. Expert witness testimony under Daubert and philosophy of science are my fields. I'm not sure why you addressed this comment to me, except that well-thought-out, rational comments are targetted quite generally. The idea is to pretend the person being targetted said something entirely different from what they said. The pop phrase used to describe this move is "gaslighting." One could also call it non sequitur combined with innuendo. But I digress.

  45.  @annickalexander  Conspiracy to commit murder charges are brought all the time, regardless of whether the victim even knew about the plot, much less whether they were ever confronted by a gun-for-hire. A person most certainly can be sentenced on the basis of something called "related conduct" to the charges for which they were convicted, even if they were never mentioned at trial. The logic is supposed to be similar to "aggravating (versus mitigating) circumstances," but has gone well beyond that concept. Look up the federal Sentencing Guidelines. If he did attempt to hire anyone to kill another person, then charges should have been brought. He is too dangerous release from prison, ever? Prove it. The government should have to. A serial killer who was active in Paris in the '80s was eventually released, over a generation later, to a halfway house. We are incarceration mad.

It is very painful to realize that the elderly cannot count on everyone to respect them, but you did. I can barely imagine what they both went through, so late in life. No better way to show your child exactly what you think of them, and how much support they can count on from you. When other kids are being prepared for college, given music lessons, art lessons, summer camp, etc., risk ruining your own child's life at 15. Show them who's boss.

Also consider that fantasies about burning someone to death, especially in their bed, are deeply disordered, at any age. It is not a common thing to think about. Also consider that a crime at 60 might be the one where he finally got caught!
