So, if your kid did that, you can't think of what to do about it other than call the cops, risk ruining their whole life, and place them under house arrest, or cheer them on for their entrepreneurial spirit? Huh. I could think of other stuff.

@DonPeyote420 I was wondering what thread this was from. I had said in another thread that calling the cops on your child for something that puts no one in physical danger is an unfathomable betrayal. You explained what is really wrong with it and why it is not useful better than I did.

@NKN112011 I am as well. But I would never sentence anyone to death, man or woman, where there was substantial evidence of being used sexually. Not to take away from how phenomenally dangerous Arias was and is, and certainly not to blame the victim. I don't believe she would have stopped at one murder, frankly! That's the impression I get.

Correct. Calling the police on your own minor child for a crime that presents no risk of bodily harm to anyone is an incomprehensible betrayal. Yes, do rethink that before having children.

@DonPeyote420 My only point here was that the two extremes (law enforcement, or letting it go) are not close to being a good idea. Obviously you're right that the first is worse.

@gigi9301 Not at all. You just don't get to kill them, however much they may apparently "deserve" it. It is not self-defense. Goes both ways; so called "crimes of passion" are usually committed by men against women. I don't want them treated as low-level homicides. I did think she was shamefully provoked by him. I think the trial was sensationalized. I also think she is very dangerous. All three can be true.

@clarissa8477 Yeah, she turned out to be someone who understood about consequences all right. Worked like a charm. No better way to show your child exactly what you think of them, and how much support they can count on from you. When other kids are being prepared for college, given music lessons, art lessons, summer camp, etc., risk ruining your own child's life at 15. Show them who's boss.

Actually, growing marijuana was legalized here, but it requires strict licensing requirements that no minor could meet. It's not a job they are allowed to participate in, anymore than they could sell alcohol.

@Sam j What cherry-picking? That was her life. What have you done for your mother? Furthermore, she is a married woman expecting a child. Where is your respect for that? (Just can't hold your tongue?) Her father won a lottery and put aside the money so that all three of his children would have college funds and no need for loans. Very commendable, I agree. A very cool thing to do. It doesn't, however, buy the right to profit from his relationship with her. (In my own life, I always cut my parents a lot of slack, so personally, I could never hold it against a father, but family relationships, especially divorced family relationships, are complicated. I won't judge others. Anyway, parents SHOULD educate their children whenever they can. It is their job.) People think Meghan Markle "got more than she deserved," somehow, hence the hatred. You focus on her because you find her very attractive. That is an opportunity to practice feeling attraction without having to lash out at the object of your attraction because you can't possess that object. It's a good discipline to learn. It is a skill that is less rare in other societies, I can vouch for that.

When she started making money, she paid her mother's tuition at USC for a Master's in Social Work. In addition to acting, she learned calligraphy to make extra money before she made in in a television series. Yeah that sounds like a high school dropout sex-obsessed murderer all right. And there are people who agree with you? Wow is this a repressed society. Too bad they can't both move to France or something.
