@puccipuu1797 There should be zero chance of homicide. If one person is in distress due to an accident, the other would immediately call paramedics and begin resuscitation --- if it was an accident. But a diabolical killer might do that to make a murder look like an accident. Maybe Dr. Grande is right. Forget the choking part.

I can listen to these horrifying cases only when Dr. Grande explains them. I cannot bear sensationalized accounts of what is already shocking and tragic. I need a calm, balanced voice and person to explain something like this. I learn so much this way, because I might never be able to listen to accounts of these events otherwise.

@Lark-jh9gx There is no such thing as a defense of consent to death. Even euthanasia is illegal in most places.

@katiemiaana For me, it is the kind of laughter that is purely innocent, designed to release tension. I need the release. Criminals make me feel powerless. We laugh to get back a sense of power over our fate. I will admit I am exceptionally afraid of diabolical or disordered criminals. I have laughed to release tension even after an operation, when the norm is to cry. I don't claim that's good, it's just different. The nurses appreciated it, though.

@srslee5966 Yes, "themselves" is key. The key is the moment a person appears not to be conscious, a normal partner will immediately call for help and begin resuscitation. As rare as it is, someone could have a heart arrhythmia or stroke during ordinary sex. Wouldn't a real partner be desperate to help them? The partner will insist on calling paramedics, the striken person will be saying, "no, no, I'm fine."

I need the tension release, and the sense of having some power over my fate. These types of criminals haunt me. I know it could happen to anyone. Knowledge gives us some power. Laughing breaks up the shiver going down my spine.
