  2.  @musFuzZ  Read The Atlantic article. Murray worked for the OSS, which became the CIA. The research he later did with Kaczynski and the others at Harvard had a similar aim and design as MK ULTRA projects created to study brainwashing. Start there.

Steiner said the University received substantial financial records from the CIA outlining Harvard's involvement in the controversial mind-control program. He refused to release any details about the documents yesterday, but said the two research projects in question did not include any drug experimentation. The CIA secretly operated the MK-ULTRA research project for 12 years beginning in the 1950s to study the effects of alcohol and various narcotics on witting and unwitting human subjects at a number of American universities and colleges.   6.  @corn_pop6082  The mind is exceedingly complex, as is the brain. It is the most complex material thing in the known universe. To claim that because a particular concentrated form of psychological abuse did not create a series of near-identical Unabombers, it could not be to blame to any extent for having created one, is sheer nonsense. Its role in creating the Unabomber has to be examined point by point, not dismissed like you do.
