  3. He escaped justice for nearly a lifetime -- nearly two generations, in fact. His actions after being stuck in the blizzard were radically inconsistent with guilt, and he apparently had no prior record and never repeated this type of crime. It is no surprise he escaped for so long, and that only DNA could inculpate him. I feel for his victims and his poor kids. What a blow.
