There is a report that his mother called the school about 20 minutes before the attack to alert them of an emergency. We'll have to see whether that's what happened. Don't be so quick.

@aprilwycherley "Assault rifle" is a purely journalistic term, not a legal or technical one, and it indicates that a particular firearm is a rifle generally intended to be used against other people, either in combat or for self-defense, and is not commonly intended for use in hunting or other sports. Obviously, it could be used in hunting as well. What do you think your ubiquitous talking point proves? An AR-15 IS an assault rifle, if this is what is meant. No law can be drafted to "ban assault rilfes." It would have to be much more specific, and that's putting aside whether it would be effective in doing what we want it to do, anyway.
