@janetwalk4996 The ancients talk about the marketplace all the time, and Socrates and Plato talk about the Sophists and their very lucrative commercial ventures all the time. The Sophists made great fortunes in an interesting way. They claimed there was no such thing as truth, and they proposed to teach others to speak in order to persuade, because persuading in the market and in politics -- in other words, coming out on top -- was all that mattered. Anyone who thought otherwise was either jealous or a child. (Sound familiar?) The Gorgias is the best one, for all the gory details, and the Apology, for the poetry. This is over 2400 years old. Not for nothing that Marx did his doctorate on even earlier Greek philosophy.
