  2. False. First of all, I also oppose the proposed French law. But these reports (all of them in English) are false. 1. The law has only passed one chamber, and is not yet a part of the Code Pénal. 2. The aim of the law is not to protect big pharma, but to protect vulnerable individuals from charlatans who urge them to avoid medical care. 3. The cultural context is that the many French do not support anything that smacks of assisted s or even encouragement to give up on promising treatment. It's an ongoing debate. 4. The law requires a victim. Anyone can oppose ANY treatment, in principle. The crime would be to approach a particular sick person and tell THEM to avoid accepted medical care. That VICTIM would then have to testify against the purveyor of harmful advice. Do you not see the difference?? I oppose the law because I think it is too broad and chills speech. The laws against practicing medicine without having the credentials are sufficient.
