@jjgreek1 Is South Africa's low rate of vaccination due to the "anti-vaxx loonies?" What is the reason? It appears that an untreated HIV positive person is Patient Zero. We have not been informed of the evidence for this.

This is a common pattern. There is no guarantee that this will be the case with COVID 19.

@jooka24 Actually, even the HIV in current circulation is less deadly, even if left untreated, than the variety in circulation in the early 1980s.

@chrism7969 The report does not state that Delta is more lethal than Alpha was. It suggests there is some evidence that it is, but not that it's sufficient to draw that conclusion.

@hendrikbotha665 Mutations may possibly arise in both vaccinated and unvaccinated people. It's not exactly the same as antibiotic overuse, where the antibiotic itself can create the selection pressure for the bacteria it fails to kill, which then may overgrow and overwhelm the host. If vaccinated people fail to monitor their symptoms, get tested promptly, and quarantine if positive ("because I'm already vaccinated!!!"), they could cause new variants to spread, sure. Or spread the ones we've got.

@deadpoolgaming997 There is some good evidence that vaccination plus a mild case of COVID gives the strongest immunity. Dr. Campbell has presented some of those studies. Know that right now, everything is still preliminary.

@chrism7969 Which comment? Anyway, I agree you're right. Certainly selection pressure for both greater transmissibilty and greater lethality in a virus with such a long incubation period, and low lethality to start with, is possible.

@chrism7969 I cannot mention pre-2020 Scientific American, Smithsonian, or vaccine manufacturers' own information sheets without having my post removed -- much less peer-reviewed journals, which it is presumed I cannot possibly understand. This is the story of the Internet: do you see conspiratorial speculation censored? No, because it is mere "opinion." The more you deal in facts, the more likely your post will be removed.

@DrBeauHightower Campbell most certainly is licensed by a medical licencing entity, just not as an MD, and not in the United States. He had a position with policymaking authority over nursing education in the UK.

@chrism7969 I think I give too many details about exactly where I found a fact I cite, to show what persuaded me to believe what I do. Hence, it is tantamount to a link, and posts with links are strongly disfavored.

@chrism7969 I think that there may be a way to censor the actual giving of medical advice directly to particular individuals, whether that advice be sound or not. It may be excellent advice, but it shouldn't be given, just like a doctor cannot diagnose someone they never met. As for conspiracy theories that do actual harm and defame particular people, the leading purveyors are being sued, and the plaintiffs are winning. Just showing people how that happens should be enough. Another interesting fact is that such theories have at times been planted by various governments, for the purpose of discrediting all critics and making them all appear to be in league with the wackos. Adam Curtis, also UK, has documented this. Some of it is funny. US and USSR/RF have both done it. These days, a Russian troll farm will float a story as an experiment, to collect data on the reaction. They don't care whether they persuade, they want to study what happens. Seems more sinister? Hard to say.

@breez706 People who contract measles will not get it again -- literally almost never. The issue is that a case of measles can have terrible complications.
