  1. The neighborhoods you mention are EXPENSIVE neighborhoods, not safe ones. I never understood why they cost what they do. No one who grew up in the city proper has any desire to live in any of those areas, except maybe in parts of Lincoln Park, near the lake, or in River North, also near the lake. Those who do know to take precautions. When the economy gets dicey, the crime in those areas goes up.
