  1. This blew my mind: the closest (well, least distant) living descendant of the T Rex is . . . the chicken! Actually, the wild fowl from which all chickens were bred. They are native to southeast Asia, and look like colorful chickens. Crazy, lol.

  2. Actually, what I said was misstated. T Rex does not have any living direct descendants. It does have living relatives, with whom it shares a common ancestor relatively recently -- jungle fowl, which are the wild "cousins" of chickens. Way closer than, say, a brontosaurus and peacock, lol.
