  2. That's because no one teaches objective laws and why they were passed. Anyone can inflict invidious racism on anyone else -- blacks on whites, Asians on blacks, any combination you can imagine. Structural racism is a different matter. This country has a history of structural racism, which has been stamped out in the legal system but persists in some places as a custom or practice. Sometimes you do see it pop up, such as in the Stanford r_pe case, and you saw the predictable outcome -- outrage. But know that many cases that are never in the public eye do come up and people get away with it. I don't think a person who isn't trained in history and law can teach this well. The high school teacher who can is very unusual. Glenn Greenwald, With Liberty and Justice for Some is a great read. So is Carl Elliott, The Occasional Human Sacrifice. (Did you know that one of the main whistle blowers in the Tuskegee experiment was a conservative Republican?)
