@Adrian-hq5jk Claiming that gender, ethnicity, creed, color, LGBTQ status, and the like, are qualifications for weighty positions. Being human is a qualification for a job. Being a woman of color doesn't weigh in either direction for being President, not anymore than being a man of British descent.

@merb.3576 FULL AGREEMENT, no exceptions.

You do know about Ackman's wife, correct?

@hsmd4533 Listen to the entire statement in its context.

@amypoole30 Not to me. Don't be like cancel culture Dems. Actually listen to her.

@Rowe104 If they were outstanding papers, setting forth novel theories and representing her own work, that would be plenty. Still, a person would expect most Harvard PhDs in the social sciences or humanities to have published a book based on their thesis -- either expanding on it, drawing from it, or simply publishing the thesis itself, without major reworking. A thesis that becomes a book also "benefits" from the publisher's close scrutiny. 😉😊

@chuckbecker4983 Simple: she did not earn her MIT doctorate. That should be rectified. Ordinary people have their degrees revoked for precisely this. The appropriate consequences should be determined the way they usually are, after an investigation. What does anyone's position on Israel have to do with their scholarship and scholarly integrity? Should the accusation that Neri Oxman "supports the genocide of Gazans" have any bearing whatsoever? Should the identity of her second husband matter? Should his money matter? Really?

@chuckbecker4983 Have you ever read Brandenburg v. Ohio? RAV v City of St. Paul? Maybe you should.

This program is dishonest. This is not what happened. Oh well. No wonder dishonesty is rampant. 💰

American major party politics has no Marxists. This isn't France.

@melstiller8561 Personne n'a révoqué le doctorat de Neri Oxman -- ce qui n'est pas injuste pour le moment, d'ailleurs. On verra ce qui se passera après une enquette. S'il y en aura une.

After Harvard lost its lawsuit brought by Asian students, the truth about undergraduate admissions was laid out: over 40% of white students were admitted on other criteria than academic merit. Legacies, major donors, athletes, and "special development" are the reasons. An outstanding athlete or a gifted actor or musician has merit in my eyes, but those are not academic criteria.

@artemisjuno Remarkable how many of us agree with her entirely, and feel the same way. I'm . . . shocked. 😄 Happy.

@johnbarnes-c9q Well, but I believe everyone who can work, and needs to or wants to, should have a job they can do. No special merit needed.

In any case, Oxman was an MIT professor until she decided to leave, and her lab benefitted from a Jeffrey Epstein gift. And yet . . . She isn't a nobody. She is the wife of a man who can get top administrators fired from leading global universities. That's not a nobody. Nobodies work for a living, or else.

@johngibson4341 I was giving a hypothetical. Strictly hypothetical.

@johngibson4341 The point about publishing a book was key. Publishers vet. They have a crucial material interest in making absolutely sure there are no possible copyright or plagiarism issues whatsoever.
