These two, duping people into ending up as low-wage workers for life, and making bank by doing it. This is the new America.

@sdrc92126 Yes I do know what Nixon did in 1971. You have a point. The ramifications weren't, of course, felt immediately.
2
So it is systems, not individuals, huh? 😅
2
@txdmsk Yeah, except that those with degrees can choose to work to age 70 and beyond. What does a roofer do at 55, when 65 is already too young to retire for most people? Look up the Federal Reserve Board survey of household finances and take a hard look at the numbers. Few below the top 10% are truly secure, and almost no one below the top 20% is. Yes, some live in smaller towns and are resourcefull, but that's not a plan for 80% of 335 million people.

In the US, as long as it's a theoretical assertion, it is legal under Brandenburg v. Ohio. Rubin is mixing scenarios that are considered entirely distinct in America.
2
They are lying to you here. The real issue is, why don't you see through it?
1
@secretsquirrel6718 No degree when he's 50 years old and needs to work 20 more years . . . How will that work out? Just great I am sure. /s
1
@billTO Except that at 75, you could work part-time easily. A person in the trades better not need to.
1
@secretsquirrel6718 So, you're not going to educate your child. Got it. No problem. Count on the BRICS+ to educate theirs. Count on these two talking heads' kids, nieces, and nephews to go to the best schools. Yours can be arthritic plumbers at 60. You can hope theirs will hire yours. "Please please please"

@tunemaking LOL, show me an actual socialist country that did not create 99% literacy in one generation, and that did not come out on top at the mathematics olympiads every year, for generations. Do you think Cuba and Venezuela have drag queen story hour? For all that is wrong with them, the one thing you can't accuse them of is that form of decadence. That is Western neoliberal, through and through.
1
Did you report him?
1
Why? He's a hate spitting twerp. Not very long ago, his lifestyle was a crime in UK. What sort of bigotry is he determined to unleash, that he's SO sure it won't come back to harm him or the people he cares about?
1
Speaking of "action" . . . What did you have in mind?
1
Reagan was the beginning of the fall. The financialization of the economy was the beginning.
1
@sdrc92126 BTW, your post is being shadowed except on my notifications feed. Too bad. The algorithm doesn't like good points I guess.
1
Classic grifter.
1
Well that's funny. When the mastermind of the Beslan school massacre got a platform on Nightline to air his views, and Russia protested, the US said "free speech." No one thought the sky, or the "West," were falling.
1
@kennethgee2004 Harming the country? The US bombed where my parents were from with DU (depleted uranium). The country harmed us, and not just that time. Every president's schemes hurt us in one way or another. There is no way to make it up to me. This Bogossian is SUCH a liar, lol. He cares about you so much that he's making bank off of you to deceive you.
1
You know this, how?
1
@bunk95 It is to the OP, of course.
1
Start by not believing this nonsense. You think these people's children and nieces and nephews won't go to college, the most prestigious ones they can get into? Oh yes they will. As maverick journalist Whitney Webb always says, don't listen to what people say. Watch what they do. That's called critical thinking.
1
@jeffreyg607 That you fall for these two grifters shows education is sorely needed. Before Reagan, a kid could earn a full year of in-state tuition at all the great public universities, from Michigan to Virginia to U of Texas. That has been categorically impossible for two generations. It wasn't "Marxists" (or Russians, or Chinese) who put an end to that. Also, the most common major for decades has been Business. Do you think that's an education? If you don't take pure economics and finance, calculus, and enough accounting to pass the CPA, that is a worthless degree. These are people who graduate without being able to write properly and who never read.
1
@leskobrandon691 You don't "believe" Elon Musk and Bill Gates went to college? 🤔 Why don't you . . . look it up? You could do that, right? You know how the search engine thingy works? More important: do you think they got where they did either through exceptional family connections, or government contracts and subsidies, or both? You should think so, because they did.
1
Great post. Also, Rubin is misleading people about American law. "Promoting violence" as a theoretical matter (as Jefferson and Paine did) is legal in the US. "Inciting imminent violence" is not. Brandenburg v. Ohio is the seminal case that explains it. And the ACLU was right. Glenn Greenwald has been posting videos where he reads through Brandenburg step by step. (Obviously, Piers, Murray, or Rubin fans won't look it up themselves.)

@briaf3370 ???

Before Reagan, a college student could earn a full year of in-state tuition with a minimum-wage summer job. THAT was freedom. But massive deficits brought us so much "freedom" that today, no one can count the number of sanctions we are enforcing against other countries, or wars we are financing.
1
$$$$$$$$ nice job, keep it up That's all I see in you.
