  4.  @peachbun  It's one hysteria after another, one designated Enemy after another. This is what scares me. You never know which way a mob may turn. People have the illusion of strength from being part of a mob, and the illusion of being exempt from the wrath of the mob. But no one is exempt, ever. No one can ever be sure.

  6.  @peachbun  Well, we have a result. Looks to me like the jury looked beyond First Amendment law and provable damages to punish wrongdoing, in the proportion they saw fit. If that is what happened, it means we all lost. As usual.

  7.  @richardkovacs2006  Looks like he did not need more than that. The affirmative verdict on both his claim and her counterclaim may not even be coherent. Lots of First Amendment lawyers would take either appeal for free. It smacks of proportional punishment for wrongdoing, not liability for defamation.
