  1.  @bif53  You have absolutely nothing to say to someone who has been raped. Your role is to listen to them. Any suggestion about what they need to do, or what is best for them to do, or what will happen if they don't follow this or that formula, is disguised hostility -- inverted resentment masquerading as wisdom. Shameful, really. Be quiet and listen.

  2.  @abrahamalvarez7099  Dyer is presenting well-known lessons in salesmanship disguised as profound wisdom. Read a real book on trauma, if you care to learn. If not, be humble. The one value to this discourse is to learn what to say to mere acquaintances to Sound Smart and keep them off your back. Telling a traumatized person what attitude they need to have, or should "choose" to have, toward what happened to them (them, not you) is abusive. (How do you even know your choices are real choices for them, at this moment?) What you believe "worked for you" may not work for anyone else because they are not you. This is why one-on-one therapy exists, and isn't a simple proposition. It is never "one size fits all."

  3. I guess you have to try them out first, to see whether they "weaken" you. In general, thoughts don't weaken anyone. Emotions may, by leading you astray and exhausting you. Believing that thoughts can hurt you is MUCH more likely to do real harm -- which of course is a thought as well, a thought about thoughts.

  4.  @RichPortQueen  If someone does me wrong I wish love and kindness to their next VICTIM, or better yet, I wish that there be no next victim. But in America we tend to glorify bullies and look down on victims so, okay, wish your abuser love and kindness. Whatever.
