In a global emergency, no one's life is more precious than anyone else's, no matter what they have done in the past. The life of someone in their 80's is certainly not worth one vaccine-induced myocarditis in a 12-year-old child. (I say that being much closer to 80 than 12, and no, I do not have teenaged children, or any young relatives for that matter.) I'm proof that an agnostic can have morals. 😊

If it were up to me, I'd put it at 18 in general, and 16 or 17 only where the age difference between the partners is less than four years. And I'd put it at 21 for creating or transmitting certain images of oneself, and similar activities. In other words, I'd tighten this up a lot. Apparently, based on what the law IS, most people disagree with me -- sadly. Before you defame anyone, however, take that into account.

In fact, if the person is well-known, the falsehood would generally need to be either deliberate (uttered with knowledge that it was a lie), or stated with reckless disregard as to whether it was false. That's known as "New York Times malice." There are some great books on the First Amendment, intended for a general audience. Nadine Strossen is great. I am truly afraid we are close to losing these rights. Billionaires can buy up the commons -- and that includes free speech fora. Let's face it -- private universities always maintained designated free speech fora. They can curtail that, bowing to donor pressure, and that's only the beginning.

Concentrations of rentier wealth always try to escape free market discipline and extract wealth from the entrepreneurs who create and produce the wealth, as Adam Smith knew a century before Marx. There is no roving commission with the "authority" to restrain anyone's speech. Nor would losing something like a breach of contract case restrain your future speech. You could walk out of court and issue a statement that the ruling was unfair.
