Etiquette also means not noticing when others fail to observe it. Some say that's the first rule of etiquette. Then there's always the principle of staying out of other people's married lives, absent a compelling reason to be involved, usually meaning your advice was sought or something like that. Those are rules, too. Well, in Paris they are anyway.
