His security consultants probably told him to cut it out. He can follow their advice or pay them more or pay someone else more. In any case, whoever could track the plane still can track the plane. They can share it with their small circle of friends, too. They cannot post it on Twitter. Ease of access is a relevant metric.

If they could track Elon before, they can still track Elon. They just can't post it on his new toy.

Bri talked to Katie about quitting in protest, and discussed it here. She made it clear to producers that they had to let her do that.

First of all, who knows who is on the plane based on this data? Second, this does not stop the tracking -- whoever could track him before can track him now, and share the information with his nefarious associates. This stops people from posting it on Twitter, is all.

I don't know why people can't listen to their point here. Their point is that all of the rest of us are even more vulnerable than he is, but we don't have the $44 billion to do something about it. They made it well. Musk literally promised not to ban that account. No one made him promise. Did he only just realize the possible ramifications? So he's not the boy wonder we are supposed to think he is.

Um, you can track your friend's commercial flight -- at least my relatives in Europe can track my flight to see where I am. Is that possible in America, or "do they have us for our freedoms?" Freedom of expression includes free sharing public information, just as they were discussing on this video. Can you tweet that so-and-so is currently entering a courthouse, where proceedings are, with rare exceptions, open to the public?

He's not blocking the tracking. He's blocking the posting. Whoever tracked him before still can, and text it to their nefarious associates. Think about, like, technology and stuff.

@drichards4426 I think we should debate that. I don't have a position because I haven't given it the thought it obviously merits. It strikes me as problematic.
2
@drichards4426 My cousins in Europe can track my commercial flight, with software anyone there can have. They live in a NATO member country.

Twitter was always criticized. Now it is known how bad it really was.
2
The problem is the failure to block all insider trading.
2
Why, exactly? If they could track the plane before, they can still track it. They just can't post it on his platform.

"Think of the children."
2
@shostako1284 Except that whoever had the capacity to track him still does, and can share that public information. They just can't broadcast it on Twitter.

@drichards4426 My cousins in Europe can track the commercial jet I'm on to watch how close I am.

@anacc3257 Whoever can track that plane still can, they just can't post it. If the information is public, sharing it is First Amendment protected speech and expression. Question the tracking itself being public. That would be a fruitful discussion, no?
1
@anacc3257 Share information "with the intentions to ruin the person?" I think you just described social media. What do you think Twitter mobs and other social media mobs have been doing?
1
Exactly. If he could be tracked before, he can still be tracked now. The difference is, the posts won't appear on Twitter.

@thewingedringer My relatives in Europe can track my commercial flight and see where it is, with software anyone can buy. Is that prohibited here?

His security consultants told him to cut it out. He can follow their advice or pay them more or pay someone else more.

@shostako1284 What is a criminal case? Are charges pending for stalking the car his child was allegedly riding in?
1
@shostako1284 Of course it can. I'm asking whether this is simply an anecdote, or whether a police report was made.
