  1. @scratchpenny  Most of these "cultural" issues (I'm tempted to call them dystopian cultural issues) are generated deliberately to create mass distraction. Most people do not know enough about the financial system to hold a strong opinion, but it should be obvious to most that the minimum wage was once a meaningful contribution to a household budget. There was a time when two people earning minimum wage could rent an apartment anywhere in the country, and a summer job paid for in-state tuition at every state university. There was a time when medical care was affordable. My parents didn't have insurance, so they saved up to have me. I don't think anyone wants the bulk of our productive capacity offshore. I don't think anyone wants to be manipulated to take experimental vaccines or to be spied on.
