@luvitluvitbaby Let's assume for the sake of argument that you're right about "illegal means," which is doubtful, but we can assume it. How does "discover[ing]" something "through illegal means" make any part of what was discovered "fake?" It does not follow.

The way Hunter left his laptop with highly sensitive information on it at a repair shop and forgot about it just goes to show that he was exceptionally well qualified to sit on the board of a Ukrainian energy company and siphon money out of that poor country. In the future, I hope they use that as a criterion for hiring the next corrupt lackey, er, board member.

@Kurgana Typical imperialist discourse. I care because it has FOREIGN POLICY implications, and because it involved looting a poor country. I don't care if he paints and sells his paintings to private individuals, who then don't get special treatment from the White House, other than to get invited to a social event. Actually, his art isn't that bad. If he were 17 or 18, he'd get into Rhode Island for sure, on merit.

@fredschnerbert1238 How do we pay for Medicare for the elderly, who need the most medical care? How did in-state tuition used to be something that was covered by a minimum-wage summer job? Yes, a year at U of Michigan, or UC Berkeley, or U of Texas, and on and on and on. When you figure that out, come back to us. Health insurance issues are the number one reason people hesitate to start a small business. School debt, and not just for college but for a whole host of vocational programs, is a major reason kids live at home instead of getting on with life, getting married, etc. But you worry about "TAXES!!!!!" Great, keep it up.

@fredschnerbert1238 I cannot comment because I am unfamiliar with this theory and the evidence for it. I don't know what it has to do with our discussion, though. When education and medical care (and rent for a studio or one-bedroom in major cities, for that matter) were affordable, the US had no access to Chinese markets, labor or consumer. Life just keeps improving! :) /s

@fredschnerbert1238 Not responsive. Necessities used to be affordable without the debt levels you see now. This was the case when taxes were higher. Corporations are routinely spending more on lobbying than on taxes (and the first to do that provoked surprise -- consult, e.g, Forbes for a list). Who pays for that?

@tbest29 A lot was shadowed when this was a new story. Not paying attention any more, frankly. We all know the story was all too real, though at the time it was mind-boggling that HB could do something of that nature.
