@fortusvictus8297 I did look it up, and revise my position. I do not support the sentence, and in any event I support suspended sentences, but these guys should do their research. This nurse made no fewer than nine major errors. Warnings were plastered all over the drug. Then, she neglected the patient in obvious distress. People should look it up themselves, and not just believe the "societal ramifications" spin. These two did not do their homework, given how fast I found actual court documents. See why prosecutors decided to bring such an unusual case. Audi alteram partem.

Well, I did look it up. I do not support the sentence, and in any event I support suspended sentences, but these guys should do their research. This nurse made no fewer than nine major errors. Warnings were plastered all over the drug. Then, she neglected the patient in obvious distress. Look it up yourself, don't just believe what they tell you. This is media almost like the rest, and these two are smug and lazy. In any case, whenever there is a criminal trial, the state has a high burden of proof, as it should. See what the prosecutors said to persuade the jury. Audi alteram partem.

Robby, the VAST majority of malpractice cases are never brought. My family was typical: we were destroyed by repeated malpractice, and we never sued. You don't believe me, do you? If we had sued and gotten the money, then you would believe it.

Find out why the state chose to prosecute. I would never sentence her to jail, but this was not an ordinary negligence case at all. This report was feeble. They clearly didn't do their homework. I found out the facts in a few minutes. Media does this all the time.

@apollyon7x I don't blame you. It was the journalists' job, full stop. They went straight for the "societal ramifications" spin instead.

@fortusvictus8297 Actually, it tells us nothing. The actual court record would tell us something. Your conjecture is poor. In any case, suspended sentences are the norm in Europe. A person with a legitimate six-year sentence for a reckless but unintentional act, might serve 6 months, not six years, with the rest of the time suspended.
1
@bhoovis You believed these guys. Look up the state's position. See what they said.

@sittingindetroit9204 Assumptions are worthless. If you haven't read the actual court record, then you don't know.
1
@sittingindetroit9204 Perfect. You just earned a byline.
1
@sittingindetroit9204 It was easier to find than I thought it would be, too. You were right.

@Birdpoo777 No he's not. He did his homework.

@Birdpoo777 Are they suppressing the factual posts, or are you just not reading them? This was not an ordinary mistake at all. That story might be pushed for market reasons.
1
@Infectd Nope. Read the whole story. The state prosecuted her for a reason. Hospitals don't prosecute people. The most they can do is fire them and recommend a license be lifted. They can't lift the license -- nor should they be able to.

I do not support the sentence, and in any event I support suspended sentences, but you should do your research. This nurse made no fewer than nine major errors. You skip to what's convenient for you. Warnings were plastered all over the drug, she overrode a code to get to it, and then ignored a patient in obvious distress for a long time.
