I thought that if someone makes a lot of money, they "must have" "created value." Robin DiAngelo made a lot of money. Ergo? /s

@timayjust Russia has more millionaires and billionaires of Russian descent than America does. Should ethnic Russians emigrate there? Same for China, India, a lot of places.

@Dog-Faced Pony Soldier Um, YEAH.

Have you read it?

@adosjustice3242 The 1619 Project is not that Robin DiAngelo nonsense. The originator of the project is black. We have a problem that in high school, we only teach ideology, and always have. A real university course would take essays from the Project, and then present highly critical views from other historians, and examine both. We never do that in high school. We think the kids are incapable of dealing with that. It's too contentious. I never knew what history was until college. My response was for David Wilson, who "knows" it's just propaganda. I'll bet.

@A_Derpy_NINJA Anyone who wants the young to understand the mainstream media, what appears there and why. Better to hide it from them?

@A_Derpy_NINJA Well then ban it from school. Seriously, we can't agree on basic curriculum any more! No one is saying the NYTimes should dictate curriculum, or actively seek to influence it for that matter. That is not a newspaper's role. If you believe that what you just said is true, should it be taught in school -- say, in 12th grade civics? And how do we address the new media? Do you tell kids that anything could be amplified by rapid repetition on Facebook, for example, and that a certain number of people will believe it? Do you tell them that believing they are "first" to know something gives them a little thrill, and the thrill is addictive, while reserving judgment whenever they can is usually better but boring?

@timayjust How would you know? Are you familiar with, for example, francophone Africa? How much do you know about Nigeria? Botswana? Can you find them on the map? I suppose you also understand Purchase Parity Power. Sure you do.

Of course. I read fast. It's a quirk I have.

""Revisionist" and "critical race theory" are slogans, not arguments. But have it your way. I'm smart enough to know when it just HAS to be your way.

Ha. I already made my points throughout this thread, before you showed up. There was a discussion here. Sorry you missed it.
