Even if the prosecution were perfectly justified, shouldn't prosecuting a former president be taken more seriously? Shouldn't it be pristine?

@davidhoyles8595 That's the subject of this prosecution. He is presumed innocent. Follow? The question was what STANDARD Trump should be held to. Yes, a high standard. Whether he met that standard is mostly a political question. Anyone alleging it is something more (like, say, a criminal matter) should come to court with clean hands.

@Geewasright You must not understand how courts work. There is much that any jury must take on faith --- they have to believe evidence is not tampered with, for one thing. They did not witness the making of a tape, or hear what came before and after in the conversation, etc. They were not there. They have to see the prosecutor as serious, credible, and competent, and as having no conflicting interests. They can't be wondering whether money is part of the motivation for bringing the case.

@Geewasright Way to miss the point. Why not just decide by social media Likes? That's cheaper.

@Geewasright My reply was in-visibled again. The point was that a conviction of a candidate has to be accepted by most people in the US as fair, not just in the locality where it happened.
3
@Geewasright False. The alleged crime affected the whole country, and the verdict must be accepted widely as fair, because it affects the whole country.

Well sorry to disappoint again.

@Geewasright That's not the issue at all. He took an oath. Of course he should be expected to uphold it. No one disputes that.

@Geewasright Answered in previous post. Besides, Brie just told you.
1
@Geewasright No, they're not. Why do you think Brie agrees? This is a LOCAL prosecution with national implications. That means it has to be solid. 100% clean, so that OTHER jurisdictions will accept a guilty verdict. Listen, are principles dead? Is that it? Reminds me of when Trump said hideous things about women over and over, and then people went after his wife and kid, to the point of wishing them harm. If you're so against him, why try to one-up his worst character traits?

@Geewasright It just dawned on me why my much better reply from before is missing. The algorithm is flagging my strong writing and reasoning as professional. This happened to me back when the Internet was new, and my reviews were always being taken down as ad copy. When I emailed Yelp, etc., to complain, they told me. Wow, just wow.

@Geewasright Carry on with dumb soundbites.
1
@Geewasright So, you don't care whether he is elected again?? Oh. I thought you did care. Sorry, my mistake.
1
@Geewasright If you can't face facts, how are you so different from Trump tell me again.
1
@Geewasright If I so much as attempt to say the case affects more than that, because the alleged violations affected the whole country, I am subjected to sense or ship. Are you good with that?

Brie got this.

Ya think?
