That policy prevented tens of thousands of abortions, while preserving choice and paying most of the cost of elective abortion (but ALL the cost of childbearing, for all women, including clothing).   8. Vance's comments are poorly disguised bitterness, resulting from his disappointments or frustrations with his own life. Of course he doesn't see it. He thinks The Other is causing all of his problems. I don't judge people who've made different fundamental choices about their lives. I'm glad I don't have to weigh in. I had an intact family. Do I make offhand remarks about the validity of Vance rising to the position of VP because he had a troubled childhood? Obviously not. In fact, I almost forgot to mention it, because it doesn't matter. It doesn't taint a person. This has nothing to do with Kamala's qualifications. I agree she is not qualified. (We haven't had a qualified person run for a long time.)

As I said, it didn't cross my mind to say that someone with a very troubled early family life should be excluded from the political process, or even from a position of such power as Vance already has. He spoke derisively of an entire class of people and stated they should have less to say because they have no real stake in the future. (Where did he study constitutional law, tell me again?) By the way, I still don't question whether a bad childhood has tainted a person until I see actual evidence of it. Labeling my view "silly" is not getting you anywhere. I was surprised to see your OP, I consider you smart and level-headed.

  25. @medhue  I took care of an elderly WWII veteran for many years; he was extremely traumatized, with no other family, and all of this was at my expense. Most of my sentences started with "I have to," or "I can't." My weekends were like house arrest. You lost no tax dollars. I lost my retirement. You bet I don't care about you, given that you don't care about me.
