  1.  @KashBeck  There is research to support it. Don't make these monsters famous. If it stops 5% of these shootings, that could be scores of people. The problem with any measure is that if it works, you generally won't know about it.

  4.  @ariel-y-e-m  Actually, Gavin de Becker assembled the research on it. He's not a scholar by any stretch, but he did organize security for a number of high-profile people, and the chapter devoted to the subject in his book was well-researched and sticks in my mind. I don't claim it's definitive. I think there is no reason to give these miscreants a world stage in any event. I am persuaded it is a risk.
