Egyptian pharaohs were from the Upper Nile or, more often, Lower Nile at different times in their history. One group looks more like modern Egyptians, the other, more like Sudanese. As for the rest of the ethnic stuff, it's a bunch of silliness. The fake images that involve real people and create obscenity IS serious.

I love how I keep getting censored here.

â@barryfleming8488 I see you don't understand the references to what appear to be "Ethiopia" in Homer's Odyssey, but are not. You never wondered who Poseidon was visiting, that allowed Athena to have Odysseus repatriated?

Nothing. Egyptian pharaohs were from the Upper Nile or, more often, Lower Nile at different times in their history. As for the rest of the ethnic stuff, it's a bunch of silliness. The fake images that involve real people and create obscenity IS serious.
5
You think THIS is a big deal? You would. Americans live in the virtual world now. It is VERY serious. ð
5
Why do you all think this is serious? AI is raising your kids? Okay, then I guess so.
5
@zerocool5395 WHAT "narrative?"
4
@ianmedford4855 It is definitive proof that WE HAD BETTER NOT TRUST AI. It will always be subject to gross manipulation by whoever rules, and be a vector for spreading their preferred propaganda.
4
â @dop1000 Every day I find out that people are nuttier than I had thought the day before. This media is designed to demoralize.
3
â @juststop022 No, you are, if this is such a big deal to you. Will kids be confused about real history? AI is raising them? Is that it?? Then that's the problem.
3
@ChanceX74 Well, all right. I forget how people Worship at the Altar of the High Tech Billionaire. If AI shows Napoleon as black, the kids will soon think he was black. Or at least they will learn that if they make Napoleon (or George Washington or Leonardo DaVinci) black, they will get money for it. ð° ð° So I am wrong. Mea culpa.

@Curling12341 The Nubians were pharaohs for a little over a century during the time the Illiad and the Odyssey were composed. Hence, the apparent references to the "Ethiopians," which were not modern-day Ethiopians at all. Nubians are from the Upper Nile (in modern Sudan). Lol, my autocorrect wants to change Nubian to Narnia. ðĪĢ
2
@Curling12341 Okay, we ought to know these facts of history, but the Egypt we study the most predated the "Golden Age" of Greece, well before Alexander -- well before the Peloponnesian War, for that matter. That is what most people picture when you mention Egypt, though you would hope they also knew something about Cleopatra, if only because Shakespeare wrote a play about her.
2
@destroytheboxes Too bad my other post, about how ___ poses dangers, is gone. How ironic. But argue about identity nonsense, no problem.
2
@zerocool5395 What did you all see in this? It's not a bunch of silliness?
2
Maybe you don't know ancient history. Egyptian pharaohs were from the Upper Nile or, more often, Lower Nile at different times in their history. The people of those regions resemble modern Sudanese or Egyptians, respectively. As for the rest of the ethnic stuff, it's a bunch of silliness. The fake images that involve real people and create obscenity IS serious.
1
â @barryfleming8488 Oh that's right. You didn't wonder about the Odyssey. My bad.
1
@ChanceX74 This should be a bunch of silliness. That history is unknown by the average college grad, never mind high school grads, is the real problem. All they learn now is advertising and marketing (= propaganda). Whatever pleases the elites at the moment is "truth(y)" . . .
1
@pale_saint Who is "she?"
1
@destroytheboxes That's what I didn't see.
1
@destroytheboxes If AI shows Napoleon as black, will the kids soon think he was black? Or will they learn that if they make Napoleon (or George Washington or Leonardo DaVinci) black, they will get money for it? Then that IS the real problem. Whoever controls these algorithms will be able to spread whatever propaganda they prefer. This will change based primarily on cha-ching, or the whims of the billionaires.
1
Yes, seeing you all go ballistic over a joke is rough all right. Unless AI already rules and is actually convincing kids that George Washington was black, or anything else that it wants to misrepresent. Then yes, you do have problems. Big problems. The election should be a doozy.
1
@RedWing88 Yes. Obviously getting ready for the election, huh? This really is bad.
1
@gianni_schicchi Look, I thought it was utterly laughable because the vaunted AI made a mistake a learning-challenged 10 year old would know better than to make, but I concede I may be wrong. I better get up to speed here.
1
@utah_koidragon7117 Well, all right. I forgot how people Worship at the Altar of the High Tech Billionaire. If AI shows Napoleon as black, the kids will soon think he was black. Or at least they will learn that if they make Napoleon (or George Washington or Leonardo DaVinci) black, they will get money for it. They may even get into Harvard, if not MIT, if they make him black and that may very well be worse. Mea culpa. But distributing an obscene fake image of a living person IS objectively worse for the simple reason that it is a tort or a crime. Making Shakespeare black is only a crime figuratively. My advice, if I may, after this insensitive performance on my part: have a physical library. Buy your kids real books. Start now.
1
@idnintel Who told you her IQ?
1
@utah_koidragon7117 Well, as usual, my response to you is no longer present. They do not want the two of us to talk! Lol
1
@spawnjg A "typical Democrat?" She didn't vote for Biden. She didn't even vote for Hillary!
1
How is this "against white people?"
1
@harnessriscallous7466 Unbelievable. Okay. I forget how people Worship at the Altar of the High Tech Billionaire. If AI shows Napoleon as black, the kids will soon think he was black. Or at least they will learn that if they make Napoleon (or George Washington or Leonardo DaVinci) black, they will get money for it. ð° ð° Yes, I see how this is wrong.
1
How is making imperialists look like those they colonized discriminate against whites? It's a whitewash, lol. ðĪŠ
1
Egyptian pharaohs were from the Upper Nile or, more often, the Lower Nile at different times in their history. It's true that they did look different. As for the rest of the ethnic stuff, it's a bunch of silliness. Why do you take it seriously? Will people be fooled by it? The fake images that involve real people, and create obscenity that looks real and lasts forever online IS serious.
1
@ianmedford4855 I got the point all right. Did you? AI will spread propaganda faster than an engineered virus spreads disease. It is not to be trusted.
1
@porter9494 I don't vote for the major parties. Even Brie did not vote for Joe OR Hillary. Now you're saying stuff I agree with, and interjecting some weird conflict, for some reason. Sorry your other post is gone. I did not complain about it. EDIT: One of my posts keeps appearing then disappearing. That is one more example of what this stuff does to discourse in general.

Did Gemini AI generate images of people of color in countries where people of color are unusual? They aren't unusual in Paris. Wait. AI doesn't work? Oh my goodness I am so shocked.
