  5.  @deadgolfer6345  Then you are not familiar with the production costs involved, not to mention the size of the insurance component. It is a great rarity for anyone to be able to live between freelance jobs. Just look at prices, to keep you in food and shelter. You don't need to know about the industry.

  7.  @deadgolfer6345  I do agree with you about the independents, though. I got into Cassavetes during the shutdown and was stunned. I can't believe I didn't know how great he was. I don't think most people appreciate what has happened to the cost of living. A person born in the late 1940s could pay for a college degree working for minimum wage, then get one or at most two roommates and move anywhere, find a job making no more than minimum wage, and pursue art. This was New York, San Francisco, and of course Los Angeles in 1965 --- in fact, even ten years later. Today is like a different planet, not just a different time.
