@jocksharerock7318 Um, no. Kim's take is better than most, by far. You must have stopped listening. She just asked whether Putin's aim was to put in a puppet government in Ukraine.

@rajington7098 She just asked whether Putin's aim was to put in a puppet government in Ukraine. How is that a Putin "talking point?" She just suggested his claim of looking to "de-Nazify Ukraine" is a fig leaf for energy interests. How is that a Putin "talking point?" That got to the juicy info: no exclusion of Russia from SWIFT. I hope the Rachel Maddows of MSM have not duped you. Kim is doing a great job.

NYtimes had an article detailing China's support for Putin. It was linked on the front page of the online edition last night, and you have to search for it now. It stated that the US tried for three months to prevent the Chinese from supporting Putin, and the Chinese not only said no but opened a back channel to tell Putin what the US was saying. I really recommend looking it up.

@rajington7098 I think you may not be informed.

@jocksharerock7318 I'm not clear on what you mean. I am interested, so explain more.

@MegaZeeds How do you expect Russia to use nuclear weapons at its doorstep? The fact that NATO has "nukes" is a deterrent. Never heard that? Maybe it didn't make it to Facebook.

I think Putin wants an autonomous region established in the eastern provinces. According to Masha Gessen, he sees this as analogous to Kosovo/Kosova, only Russia's vital interests are implicated in this case. America's were not.
1
China pledged support for Putin prior to the invasion, and reported on US efforts to undermine their alliance through backchannels to Putin himself. The NYTimes reported on it front page last night, then buried the story -- but you can find it. It's still there. Looks like you didn't keep up.

Kim is doing a great job! She asked whether Putin's aim was to put in a puppet government in Ukraine. (How is that a Putin "talking point?") She suggested Putin's claim of looking to "de-Nazify Ukraine" is a fig leaf for energy interests. (How is that a Putin "talking point?") That got to the juicy information: no exclusion of Russia from SWIFT. I thought the sanctions Biden imposed were meaty, the joke's on me. People nipping at her on anti-social media are the ones who are in bad faith.

@naturalisedhker7953 You need to find that article. What part of they opened a back channel to Putin to denounce the US efforts eludes you? Not to mention their current denunciation of the sanctions! I'm genuinely surprised. But if Putin falters, or starts making grievous errors, will they abandon him? I count on that, sure.
1
@naturalisedhker7953 New York Times -- it's as MSM as it gets. You're allowed to read that.
1
@naturalisedhker7953 I don't disagree with hardly any of that. Just heard the tail end of Chris Hedges. He was clear: we need to disband NATO, there are fascist movements throughout Eastern Europe, especially in East Ukraine, his sympathies are with Russia, AND this invasion is nevertheless an illegal war. Clarity is rare.
1
@naturalisedhker7953 I mostly agree. It did not occur to me that considering the views of the other three BRICs would be warmongering. I thought we should be aware that most of the world is not "the West," nor does it think like "the West." Your instincts are more likely to be right. Americans hate on each other over the slightest disagreement, so why wouldn't pointing out China's stance foment anti-Chinese sentiment?

@joeterzio7175 Glenn Greenwald rules again.
1
@joeterzio7175 Sure, someone who suggests the invasion is not to protect anyone from neo-Nazis but is about energy interests is taking a "pro-Putin" line all right. /s And I thought Biden has already excluded Russia from SWIFT. Just found out here that the sanctions don't have any real bite -- not as long as China is on board with Putin and Russia retains access to SWIFT. Kim just dug that up. Maybe you're being played?
1
@jocksharerock7318 So this is worse than it sounds? What do you think the ramifications will be? Did you see the Times article about China's back door to Putin? The writer alleges the Chinese informed Putin of the state of negotiations, when we were trying to persuade them to oppose Putin. They refused, and informed on the US. That's the assertion at any rate.
1
@jocksharerock7318 FWIW, I expected Russia to invade. And thank you for the post. I had no idea how this went down.
1
@rajington7098 If you're challenged as to why YOU believe something, you SHOULD produce the source that convinced YOU. We can't read your mind. That particular fact, that there are Nazis in the breakaway regions, that they have been killing ethnic Russians, and that the US has (negligently rather than intentionally? possible) supplied them with weapons, happens to be well documented.
1
@rajington7098 It was a coup. Follow Aaron Mate on this. Or here's a better idea: see how the other BRICs are reacting. Then give it a think. The poster who suggested there was more going on than meets the eye, given that the US revealed it knew Putin was going to attack, has some valuable insights. I hope they return and write more.
1
@MegaZeeds So therefore you see why that is impossible? Or is it possible in your video game hellscape?
